NRA FIRST Steps Rifle is designed to provide a hands-on introduction to the safe handling and proper orientation to one specific rifle action type.
Full Description: This class is 4 hours long and includes classroom instruction and range time learning to shoot a specific rifle action type. Students will learn the NRA’s rules for safe gun handling; the particular rifle model parts and operation; ammunition; shooting fundamentals; cleaning the rifle; and continued opportunities for skill development. Students will receive the Basics of Rifle Shooting handbook, NRA Gun Safety Rules brochure, Winchester/NRA Marksmanship Qualification booklet and FIRST Steps Class completion certificate. Rifles and ammunition will be provided.

This is a novice class. There is no prerequisite for this class.

Do I need to bring my own rifle?
No, we will provide the rifles and ammunition for the day.
What if I do not have any experience with rifles?
This is the perfect place for you to start. No prior experience is necessary.
Do I need a F.O.I.D Card?
No, Red Dot Arms Training Academy does not require a F.O.I.D card to attend. Illinois residents should apply for their F.O.I.D. if they are planning to purchase, possess or transport their own firearms.
Do I need to be a member of the NRA?
No, you do not need to be a member of the NRA to take our NRA classes.
I have never fired a firearm, can I attend this class?
This class is designed for people that have never fired a firearm before, or for people that want a great foundation to build on. This class will get you started on a lifetime of safe gun handling.
Can I bring my own rifle?
No, all firearms and ammunition will be provided . If you would like to bring your own firearm, please join the Basic Rifle Class.
